To study another example using value stream mapping (VSM), consider the Solved Problem 2 at the end of the chapter. VSM is a great visual way to analyze an existing system and to find areas where waste can be eliminated. Value stream maps are simple to draw and it is possible to construct the maps totally with paper and pencil. These maps can, however, be more easily constructed using standard office software or graphics packages.
